For residents of Taiwan how long did it take to receive the COPR mail? My wife just got approved and i am wondering if she will get the COPR before she comes to Canada on her planned trip at the end of November.
Hi Mikedankic,

I'm not sure but mycic says decision has been made. If that is correct, the process for outland sponsorship took my wife and I approx 9 months from beginning to end. She is from Taiwan.
On the CIC website, i believe Taiwan is taking approx 11 months on average for all applications

Hey Guys,

I'm sponsoring my wife under living outside Canada category, and she is currently working in Canada. We sent our application in April this year, the current status is still IN PROGRESS.

So now her work permit will expire Feb 2017, we worry the application if not approved before that, we are thinking to renew her work permit. I think she will be rejected for the work permit renewal based on my search, is that correct? Anyone have any experience? Please and thank you!

Congrats Janicebunny!! My VO is also HK. I have done medical one week later than you. However, still waiting to hear from them. Do you think HK is processing the application rapidly? I wish it is going to be true.

Best of luck on your next mission.

Thanks a lot janicebunny! We saw the options to Beijing address(my wife is from mainland China), and hongkong, and ottawa etc. I think she should send to Ottawa since she is currently in Canada. Now I know! Thanks again!

Got my AOR2 from the HongKong office yesterday by email! Yay! Hope that CIC is speeding things up!

I have some questions for you guys:

1. They are asking my wife to provide the police certificate of each country. My wife is from HongKong and the only place that she stay for more than 6 months was Canada. Does she need to provide one in Canada too? Does anyone know how to get the police certificate in HongKong while you are in Canada?

2. They also ask me to provide Updated Schedule A Background/Declaration form (IMM 5669) and Updated Additional Family Information form (IMM 5406). Does it mean that I have submit those new forms too? I already submit it on my initial package.

Thanks a lot!

I am not too sure about the Canadian police certificate, you can ask the HKVO by submitting a case specific enquiry. To obtain a Hong Kong police cert. just follow the instruction on this website: http://www.police.gov.hk/ppp_en/11_useful_info/cert_no_crime.html

As for the updated forms, you can send the VO a note saying that the previous forms are up to date. But then it is just as easy to resubmit the forms.

Not sure about #1 so someone else will need to chip in, but #2 commonly it means the VO wants your wife to fill in IMM 5669 all the way back to 18 years old and not 10 years. Make sure there are no gaps in the time line. It happened to us...we had to repeat IMM 5669. For updated family info, if you don't have additional family (like giving birth to a child during this time), you have nothing to update for 5406.

My wife just received an email from hkvo requesting the same information, I guess that's the usual practice. Have you found out if you need to get the police certificate from Canada as well?

Well they didn't ask for it. According to CIC staff on the phone, they don't need it right now, but it doesn't mean that you don't need it in the future. Anyway, I did the fingerprint in Canada and they will produce a police certificate anyway.
