Hi hicks74,

Did you receive the VISA from VAC yet?

I sent my wife's passport on april 29 still don't have any news yet....why is taking so long!! OMG!! I cant wait to book the air ticket :(
No, did not get it yet

We sent ours April 22, our VAC tracking number is April 26. I did ask VAC when they sent the passport to the embassy, and they said they sent in on April 27. When we ask how long before we get it back, we get a generic "1-2 months" answer.

My wife talks to a QQ group, and some people who sent theirs about the same time have gotten theirs back already. Apparently even someone with a tracking number of April 27 already has theirs back. That upsets me quite a bit, it likely means they have no way of ensuring first come, first serve.

I wonder if anyone one else on this topic who sent their passport around the end of April have gotten it back yet.

I am guessing I am going to have to change my flight, which is next week. Trouble is I don't know how much longer to delay it, and now there are very few seats left, going to be hard to get 2 seats together.

You should get COPR soon.

As for GCMS notes, they are basically your case files. Since by now you got DM, it will say what DM is about.

Eagles333 has a very detailed thread around the subject of GCMS notes. If you want to order them, it only costs 5 dollars, and you would know what exactly the case officers say about your case. It really has little value now as you'll get COPR...that said, if there are errors in your mailing address, you would be able to check as such information would be in the notes. After all, COPR will be mailed without even informing you, so if HKVO mailed to a wrong address, you would never know. The address could be HKVO's mistake or yours...I think humans are involved in some way, and there could always be errors.

For how to order them, just search in Youtube "How to Request ATIP ( GCMS Notes )" to give you a step by step instructions.

i have some question on the GCMS. How can I receive it? also...i was trying to change the address like a month again. however, I velieve CIC havent change it. I am ok with the old and new address when they send out the COPR. but when i request the GCMS, should I put new address or old address.
thanks

I believe it is against board rules to post links so you'll need to do a search. As I said, you can search in Youtube for GCMS NOTES, and you will get step by step instructions how to order. Even if you don't search in Youtube, a Google search will put it in very high ranking, so you can get the instructions easily.

It should point you to a CIC website (not another non government website which charges more money to help you do the same thing) titled "How to make a request under the Access to Information Act". The instructions are actually there, and you apply online, upload documents online, pay with credit card online.

If you are the sponsor, then you are the one applying for the notes...you will need your spouse to sign the authorization forms. If you are the applicant, you will need your sponsor to be the one applying. The applicant is not a PR or citizen, so he or she cannot apply for the notes. The sponsor applying for notes will need to upload a copy of his passport, and the authorization form signed by the applicant to allow the sponsor to receive such personal information.

You do not need to put in any address. The notes will come in via email in a PDF document. This are the electronic files. Do not order paper files.

When you get the notes, you will see what is your actual mailing address, to see if it has been updated. eCas is not very good at showing updated information.

For more about GCMS notes, you can search in the forum also.

A quick update, the tracking on the website says that my wife's passport has been returned to the VAC today. They have said before that they will mail it out the same day, so it should be on the way tonight. :)

Normal. Give it a couple more weeks before getting worried. But I see current sponsorship approval time is currently 40 days.

If you are landing by air in Canada and then transferring to a domestic flight you'd better have at least 4 hours between flights to be safe. All the formalities of a new immigrant landing. You could breeze through in a couple of hours or you could be stuck at the end of the line of a lot of other new immigrants who have to get their landing interviews etc. That's my tip.

Hi smoothsailing,
We have a connecting flight from vancouver to edmonton. The layover in vancouver is 6.5hrs that should be enough time right?

Yes. We took the exact same flight getting to Edmonton after 1 a.m.. In fact we would have made a flight 3 hours earlier just in time but would have been sweating it.

Landed on the 18th in Toront, process was simple and fast, took around 15 mins. The officer also pointed out the service Canada is on site so I applied my SIN right away. Everything was easy, no hassle.

Do you mean it only took you 15 min at the immigration service or the customs? How long in total?

I'm landing in toronto but i need connect a fly to Montreal and I don't know if 1h40 will be enough for everything.

I am headed to Toronto on Thursday. I will let you know how our experience goes.

Also, I think you will get your passport back this coming week, since you submitted yours a week after we did.
