Hey, Congrats to FS.

Just curious, when you guys have the address change, is it to an address in Canada? Because both our addresses are based in Hong Kong and obviously, we live together, thus having the same address. So how does that work?
I think it will change to the City and Province you indicated to move to once you go back to Canada. My wifes address changed to my city and province. The exact mailing address is not posted, just city and province.

The good news is that the HK visa office is very professional and from my experience, very efficient. A request for photos or other documents is definitely a good sign that they are working on the case. Since they only requested an additional photo, I'd take it as good news. If they were going to request more important items (relationship proof or IMM forms), they would have sent those requests at the same time they asked for the new photo. So, it looks like everything else is in order and it's just a matter of time before e-cas is updated and the PPR is sent out.

I wouldn't be worried at all. I think your son will be finished by the end of this year, if not sooner.

For our case, I think it was a combination of things that worked out in our favour. I also think that we got lucky and our case was reviewed by a highly competent visa officer.

Good luck!

How long was it between decision made status change and receiving of the passport FS?
I am sitting on hot stones today, haha. Want to book the flight badly but something says better wait for the passport with the visa to arrive. Our status changed 5 days ago. 8)

Quick question, from your experiences with the HK office. Are all communication from them through email, or do they sometimes use snail mail? We plan to sell our house and move to a temporary address until we get the COPR. Just worried that from the time we move to the time they actually change our address on eCAS they might mail us something important (like request for additional documents) to our old address, and we aren't able to get it on time. Thanks for any replies in advance.

They have sent our passport request and additional doc request via snail mail. I would send them a change of mailing address via the ecas adress change reporting option.
They will answer with a automated reply email within a day and change the mailing address accordingly.

Thanks for the quick reply. So I guess I would still have to check the old mailbox every so often before they actually show a change of address on eCAS.

If you follow the timeline of FS and mine you notice that we got the passport request 6-7 weeks after file transfer which I consider very early. Your transfer was mid October, so there might be no mail before end of November. The address change will be dealt with rather quickly, so I would not worry of missing any mail. The chances are very slim.

According to the COPR, the visa was issued on Sept 24. The passport and COPR were received at the China Post Office near our home on October 2. Decision made in e-case was on the 26. Due to the holiday, we were unable to pick it up until the following week (the week right after the holiday). So, in short, I think you should have the passport today or tomorrow.

I'd go ahead and book the tickets now. You'll definitely have the passport back before the end of October.

Even the fastest cases (mobeyk and me) still took at least a month to process. For me, it was almost one month exactly until we received the PPR. For you, it will probably be around this time in November. I wouldn't be changing addresses...I'm of the opinion it's best to NOT cause any potential confusion.

If your case is straightforward, you will be finished before the end of this year!

Good luck!

Bang, my wife got the registered mail notice from the mail man. Just as you said FS, one week after status change. She is getting her package from the post office. I am sleepless and full of expectation. This Journey comes now to an end. ;D

Yep. Nov. 10th it is, landing date. Visa expires 14th November, 1 day before medical expires.
The waiting has an end. Good luck to all who wait. This visa office is fast and accurate if you have done a good job preparing the forms and documents and if your case is genuine and straight forward.

Congrats, you two really deserve to have had your cases processed so fast. You guys have contributed a lot of helpful info. on this forum. Best of luck in the future. Before you guys finally sign off on this forum, would you guys be kind enough to make a post that outlines your complete timelines from start to finish including dates and things like when eCAS show this and that. I've been following you guys since page 1, so I have a good idea already, but it would be a perfect reference for newbies in the future. Thanks again, and take care.
