Hi, Gatca
Did you received any letter or email before you got this passport request?
Or did you need to send any extract document to CIC before ?
Oh, you sent out your application on May 2012, your case is very fast, you are faster then me, I send out on March 2012 but no any news until now ! :(

Just got letter, no email, it seems they don't use email for communications.

I resent some missing docs a few times.

R u hk resident and do u live in Canada ?

I m hk resident and working in Canada now, I think this may be the only difference, but I believe u will get news soon as they r processing the files.

Guess it takes them differently long to go through the applications. It does not mean that all passport requests arrive at same time. Depending on the amount of proof they have to go through. Fs, only difference between us is that you live in China. You should hear soon something. We get the requested doc next week and they should have everything before the holiday end of month.

Hi Gatca
I am Cananda Citizien but back to HK several years, but my husband and daughter they are hk resident , all of us are living in HK now. These are the difference between u and me. Your case is very fast to approval. I hope my case same as you quick approval. :P

I think it also depends on when the medical expires. If the medical is due to expire soon, I guess the visa officer processes those applications before others. My wife's medical expires on March 1, 2013. Mobeyk's expires in November.

Still patiently waiting. If I don't hear something by the end of September, I'm sending another case specific enquiry.

My family medical report will expire on 15-3-2013.
I also send an email to CIC HK, to ask why I can't login my husband UCI # and FS # then they reply me after 5 working day as below:
Please be advised that case is in the queue for officer's review. We will notify applicant in writing once it's done. Your continued patience is highly appreciated.
So I also need to wait ! ::)

Did they ask for your medical report so soon after application? We were asked for medical afterwards, our was almost 6 months after our application from the HK visa office. I have been back to hkg since '99, a non-resident of canada, however, and, and my wife is also a hkg resident. We just handed in her passport this week. So, we are also waiting and keeping our fingers crossed.

Hi zeushk,

We apply on 15 March 2012 and sent out with the medical report together , so just half year, not expiry.
You apply on Nov 2011, and got the passport Setp 2012 ? Around 1 year, but you hv not send out the medical report with the application form ? OR they ask you to check up once more time ?

The office asked us to resend a form. (we missed a signature) along with some additional evidence.

We sent it off and the mail tracking says it's been delievered.

But I don't know if the office really got my letter. I don't think they would send acknowledgement for something like this.

What should I do? just wait it out? email them to ask?

I don't really want to email just to ask if they received my letter, they might get annoyed?

No, we did not send the medical report with the application form, it was requested when the application was transferred to and by the Hong Kong visa office.

Having a look back at our application, and the checklist and everything that we sent, we didn't see the area where the medical report must be handed in with the application. Further to this, we always assumed that medical was done when requested.

I think you're fine, you just have to bite the bullet and wait. We have never sent an email to neither ontario nor hk visa office. Even sending our passport, (which i tried to deliver by hand two days ago, but was rejected at the door saying "it must be a commercial courier"... "but my office told me to send this...and i'll get fired over this" pleading, still came to no avail,) we just tracked by courier and did not email them.... yet.

PPR!!!!! Yes!

Cmon Fs, give us more detail. You got it?)?

Sorry! Had to drive from Panyu to the city to get the letter to confirm.

Yes, PPR. No additional docs requested.

The letter was dated August 28. They changed e-cas on August 30 showing 'in process'.

The letter just states 'pending a final assessment...' blah blah blah...We have 45 days to submit the passport.

Finally, after weeks and weeks of waiting, we are nearly finished.

At least they didn't request anything further, and I guess they believed my proof of intention to return to Canada.

We're beside ourselves with excitement.

Going to land in Feb (Vancouver). My folks are going to come out and meet us, so we might bring our son (they still haven't met him in person...I think if we do, I won't tell my parents...what a BIG surprise that will be...). Then back to China for about 5 months so I can complete my contract and save more $. We're going to move for good around August 15, 2013.
