I kinda doubt it's the old one since almost the whole month of March and includes the former applicants' changed to IP on the same day, and from the 2015 spreadsheet, Ottawa and New Delhi VO also changed a bunch of people's ecas (from January all the way to May, four months' applications) to IP on October 9th.

Here is the the definition of IP:

Status of your application

IN PROCESS

(A decision has not been made yet.)

Explanation

Application Received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) <== so there's no Application received on ecas anymore

We have received your application and will review it in order of receipt. We will send you an acknowledgement letter.

Documentation Verified by CIC
We are reviewing your application to make sure it is complete and that no documents are missing. We will return incomplete applications for resubmission.

An Interview May be Required
We will review the application and decide if an interview is necessary. If so, we will inform you in writing of the date, time and location of the interview.

I guess maybe we can never tell when our cases are actually in process anymore :(

I agree Benita. I think based on the processing time we have now we can order notes around December. There should be some process on it. Since we can get old IP in 5 months when it was 10months processing time.

I hope after the election they will speed up more, I think maybe when all the Dec. and Jan. got DM we can order notes which like you said, it may be around in December ::)

Its a mistake to think that CIC process applications in a serialized manner, if anything, its exactly the opposite.
CIC process in staggered way, with one officer reviewing one application for eligibility and either passing it, or (in most cases) submitting it for review for another officer with his initial recommendation. This is one point of staggered nature of processing.
Another is that security and criminality checks which are running in parallel but can take as short as 2 weeks or as long as years in some extreme cases. Then there is the inefficiency matter, don't think that there is a zero time handshake between officer to officer or one check to another...
So there is no finishing Nov-Dec before moving to Jan-Feb applications, it all runs in parallel.
What most of applicants are interested to see is the eligibility assessment, if that one passed all the rest is just bureaucratic procedures which will resolve sooner or later. Passed eligibility also means no interview will be required. And this information can appear on a file anytime after a few months sitting in the VO - so in short, if you are stressed out and writing and checking here every day just go ahead and apply for ATIP. I believe 5$ is not a show stopper for the most and you can request ATIP as frequently and as many times as you would like. Take a note it takes 30 days for ATIP to arrive and it most probably will have your information true to the date of request +15-20 days. Cheers

This is true. According to notes, our application was reviewed by 2 different officers...and it's the 2nd officer who updated the eligibility to passed.

It has been 2 months since the eligibility was passed...wondering if security and criminality checks are done now...my husband has only lived in 2 countries: Canada & Hong Kong...

Thank you! This is very informative.

I am a March Applicant. My file somehow updated to IP in Sept 2, while other March Apps' files updated to IP in Oct I believe. So far no updates, should I go ahead and order notes, or it's too soon?

Hi tofuboi,

Congrat for your PPR!!
For your landing issue: if you already in Canada, you are able to do landing WITHIN Canada CIC office. Example : Vancouver downtown or Surrey in BC.
An information letter attaching your CORP shows the procedure in detail. But an appointment takes more than 4 weeks time.

Cheers~ ;D

Thanks for the update. Hopefully there some offices in Toronto.

wow this is really helpful :o!!!! Thank you so much sashali78!!

Could I ask what does it mean that go ahead and apply for ATIP.

1. What is ATIP?
2. How do you apply?

Also everyone is talking about ordering the notes.

1. How do you order the notes,
2. what is the notes for?
3. Do you have to order the notes or if it is optional?

Please advise.

Thank you.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, i am glad it helped

@rbbridge: ATIP - access to information and privacy request. It is same as other refer to the "notes", or some refer by old name CAIPS.
You can order the ATIP notes online : https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/welcome.do?lang=en
Note, that since you ask for information about your spouse it has to go under access to information act and will cost 5$. Also even though you request information for your sponsorship case, you WILL have to provide a consent of your spouse, who can sign and scan and provide the form to you in pdf which you later can upload on the online form.
There are two types of information you can request electronic file and physical file. Electronic file will give you the officer notes and all the status marks such as eligibility/criminality/security/medical,etc. Physical is an actual copy of your file which will include all your submissions to the VO and all their communication to you as well. It is useful when you want to check that nothing got missing or filed incorrectly. You can request only one of those at a time (but you may submit 2 requests at the same time if you really want to see both).
Both type of notes are taken from the electronic management SYSTEM and will not delay processing of your file , will not put it back on bottom of the pile, top of the pile or dark corner of the office so no need to worry about that ;D

@braveblade: There is no too early, no one can know when officer will review your file and put his comments in. Probably it won't happen in the first couple of months the file reaches VO but no one really knows...So like i mentioned in my earlier post, if you are are anxious, order the notes and relieve your pressure

Thanks for the feedback on what the notes is.

Does everyone order the notes? or
One just order the notes to be kept informed.

I am Jan 2015 applicant, is okay to order the notes now? And if you order the notes too early, can you order an updated set of notes at a later time?
