Hi, I am currently in Canada on visitor status, I am being sponsored by my Canadian Partner. My daughter is still in the UK and I want her to come over here for 5-6 months of the year instead of just a few weeks in the summer, she would also be here as a visitor. Would she be able to go to high school? Do we need to pay any fee's? I saw another post saying this is OK in Ontario but couldn't find anything about British Columbia. Any information would be great!

I assume your daughter is being sponsored for PR too.

Technically, your daughter should have to pay tuition of around $12K to $14K per year to attend public high school. However schools do sometimes make exceptions when you can demonstrate that the child has been sponsored for PR through family class sponsorship.

It's not province dependent. Instead, it's really up to each individual school. So your best bet is to have your Canadian partner visit a few local schools (bring the paperwork that proves your daughter has been sponsored for PR) and ask if she can attend tuition free. Don't speak with the school board - go directly to the schools themselves.

Hope this helps.
