I filed for my student visa on 24th June and gave my bio metrics on 28th June. There have been no updates since.

Can be up to 6 months. In general multiple months is quite standard.

possibly one in a few or tens did get approved so fast.

Note that this is just an average based on what IRCC has processed. This will change often.

While some applicants get lucky (someone in the forum “claimed” approval the same day, but this is just anecdotal), a lot of applicants exceeds the estimated IRCC processing time.
