Wow this immigration stuff is painful to say the least.
I also can't seem to get any totally straight answers.
I am a Canadian citizen visiting in Scotland with my fiance' who is a U.K. resident.
We are both going to Canada as my six months visitor time is almost up. He will stay for two weeks or so as he must return for work in the U.K.
I was hoping someone would be able to help me.
We were hoping to marry in Scotland but seems to be more difficult, that was what he found out anyways.
We cannot marry in Canada yet however as his divorce will not be final for another six weeks plus two weeks to wait for the papers to be hand delivered to him in Scotland.
When his divorce is final.........what is the best way to do all of this... meaning should we marry in Canada as I can not re-enter into the U.K. for six mths as I am a mere visitor. And if so.........after his divorce is final and he comes back to Canada in November is there any waiting period for us to get married. I know as a Canadian citizen after a divorce, one must wait a mth to six weeks before remarriage, however being that he is a U.K. citizen marrying someone in Canada, does that also apply to him?
I plan to go back to the U.K. after we are married as soon as I can as his work is there at least for now. Once married, in Canada and after applying for spousal immigration, how long should I expect the paperwork etc. to take?
Also should I apply from Canada or here.
Ty kindly!!!
