Hi Friends,

I see lot of Indians/Pakistanis who are currently in London applying for Canadian PR. I believe most of them are on UK-HSMP and have undergone a similar pain in getting that. Could I know your reasons behind wanting to quit London and settle in Canada ?

Please share your reasons

Thanks

ruka

First of all it ia not just Pakistanis or indians or chinese and one should not say by focusing on one group. Secondly what i think England has far lesser oppotunities in terms of job oppportunities due to eurepeon union pacts lots of people from europe has landed there plus uk is far far smaller than Canada. Lastly what i beliwve it is also human nature of not vauing things in hand and always running for others.

thanks pk

Others please share.

This would definitely help those who are to decide between UK and Canada.

Thanks again

@ ruka
yea i guess pk09 has a point; would get more responses if its all groups. anyways, im not asian but i love comparing the two countries having lived in uk for a llooong time and now in canada.

What made me move:
- London overcrowded.
- Immigration rule tightened; I foresaw this and moved here to start my process; very difficult for non-EEA immigrant to get a work permit sponsor and even with a work permit, you must live there for like 6 yrs to have "Indefinite Leave to Remain" - the equivalent of PR.
- Immigration rules change very quickly - HSMP rules change quickly too compared to canada.
- Everyday immigrants negatively portrayed as "evil", "spongers", "puts huge strain on NHS", etc; even though this didnt affect me personally as i dont really care, there was rising anti-immigrant sentiment fueled by THE DAILY MAIL and mass media i believe. In Canada, immigration is GENERALLY seen as a good thing I believe from observation - at least for now.
- Requirements for citizenshp timewise is less and more reasonable than UK.
- Even though the income taxes are similarly modeled, I think Canada affords me the opportunity to save a little more and also better opportunities to be a business man - this was a big one for me as I wanted to go into business soon. Quebec for instance is huge in bio technology and the housing market in canada has not yet reached optimum maturity.
- Finally I get a sense of adventure being here, so much to do & see!

Thanks a lot chibiks for your views.

I referred to Asians, since I am an Asian. No matter where you are from.

I hope more people would contribute on this thread.

Thanks a lot guys

Your topic should be :Hi Asians In UK - Why do you want to leave UK and come to Canada ?

London is not the only city in UK. There are others less crowded urban centres such as Nottingham, Manchester, Brighton, Aberdeen, etc. There are ethnic Asians in these cities too.
