hi everyone ,
i have just arrived to canada on tourist visa , i am married to canadian , how long do i need to wait according to latest timeliness before i can apply for open work permit ?

ummmm….. are you being sponsored for permanent residency by your spouse? If yes, then are you applying inland or outland? If inland, you will send the open work permit application with your sponsorship application and you will be approved for the open work permit in 10 months. If you applied outland, sorry, you are not eligible to receive an open work permit.

If you are NOT being sponsored by your spouse for permanent residency and just want to work in Canada, then you need to either apply for a working holiday visa, skilled worker visa, etc. I know there are caps on these permits and they are filled up very quickly.

If you're just a tourist, I don't think you can apply to work in Canada if you're already in Canada.

It doesn't look like your Canadian spouse has sponsored you for PR yet.

Being married to a Canadian doesn't allow you to get an open work permit. Your husband will have to sponsor you for PR. If you apply using the inland method, it will take around 10 months from the time you submit the application for you to be able to apply for an open work permit.
