Hi! I am a new immigrant from China for four month, i have a fiancee and she is in China now. We're planning to get married and we're trying to figure out the best way for her immigration to Canada that we can be together real soon.

We're thinking of that , 1) I go back to China to marry her, then apply for her immigration. 2) Is there any way that we can get married in Canada during her tourist or other kinds of visa? If i go back to China and get married, would they doubt it's a marriage of convenience? If not, will it take long time for the application? If we can get married in Canada, should she go back to China when her visa is expired?

Currently we only have postcards, phone list by mobile company, photos with both families during these years and friends to prove our relationship, would these be enough for them to believe our relationship and grand the application for spousal sponsorship?

We really desire to get together in 6-9 month to start the family! Deeply appreciate your advises!

Depending in where in China her application will be processed, it could take 19 months (Hong Kong) or 6 months (Beijing) for a spousal application to be processed.

If she can get a tourist visa, you can get married in Canada, and apply for extensions of her visitor status while she remains as a visitor. She will not be able to work, attend school or access healthcare while she is a visitor, so you will need to show adequate funds to cover her stay.

If you send enough appropriate information and documents to support your relationship development, they will not assume it is a marriage of convenience.

Just wanted to add that if you are a permanent resident and not a Canadian citizen you will have to be in Canada during the application process. You can't go back to China and wait with her there while it is being processed.

I want to ask more, if she can get a tourist visa, how long will it take for the process of application in Canada? Thank you!

Inland applications take 11 months for stage one approval and 8-9 months for stage 2, for a total of 19-20 months.
