I applied for student permit through vfs global paper application and submitted it with biometrics and medical on 17 July 2019 . First the status was application in process now it says the additional documents are being processed. Does this mean I will get a decision soon ? My travel date is approaching what should I do ??

You never know when it will approve. It may take time.
You should never book/plan your journey until you get the visa.
