Good morning

My boyfriend has been living here illegally in Canada for almost 10 years. We are going to do the common law sponsorship when we start living together.

Should he apply for the PR card now or wait until the application has been started?

I forgot to add that he is a skilled trades worker - carpenter from Hungary.

Is there a form he can use to submit to his work place to be able to come out of the woodwork as they say lol

Thank ypu

No - he should not apply for a PR card now. He won't qualify for a PR card until his PR application has been approved and he has officially become a permanent resident of Canada.

You can sponsor him for PR once you have lived together continuously for at least one full year.
