Hi all!

I moved to Toronto 2 months ago from the UK to join my husband (who is a Canadian citizen). I am currently on a visitor stamp and am in the middle of applying for the family sponsorship.
The problem I'm having at the moment is on proving my husband's income. So, my husband has been living overseas for the past 8 years, and came back to Canada 4 months ago where he's started working here again. This means he hasn't paid taxes to Canada in those years he's been away. How can we go about providing a Notice of Assessment or Proof of Income?
We contacted the CRA as he couldn't register an online account, but we haven't heard back from them since sending them a letter (per their request) over a month ago.
Does he NEED a formal proof of income? Can we just supply another form of proof he's getting paid? Should we wait until the end of the financial year until his taxes have been paid and then apply?

I hope my questions make sense and that I've given enough background details to get an answer of what we should do.

I would be very appreciative if anyone has an answer or knows how to help.

Thanking you in advance!
