Help with Schedule 1 Background/Declaration form

I need to write the total number of years of education on PNP form and on Schedule 1 form, I need to break the years down to primary, secondary, college, and postgrad. It is Imm 0008 Schedule 1 form and it is on page 2 (10. Education).

Do I add the years I actually spent completing the each level OR do I add the normal lenght of time required to complete the each level to get the total years fo education? Some courses/programs took me longer to complete and some took me less time to complete than their normal length? For example, a 2-year course (high school) took me 4 years to complete (kept failing) and a 2-year long master's degree, I completed in 1 year (in the US). Just confused what they want to know. Thanks in advance.

I thought this form was supposed to fill out by everybody whether PNP or FSW, but I am surprised that nobody replied to my message. Please guys, help me with this. I really want to complete this form filling out process soon. Thanks for your time.

i think you shud fill it with first the yrs normally r required to complete high school and then it depends on your degree and some ppl complete it early by taking summer courses so you count your degree as per duration of the degree programme ie if it was a 4 yr degree mention only 4 yrs its bcuz if you complete your degree early then your obviously intelligent but if you took longer than normal and got failed in 1 or more semesters then wat...? so i think you shud fill it the normal way. later on when you'll submit your educational documents they get to know exactly wat was you course and how long you took to complete it...

Thanks sonea. So, I should go ahead and put the normal length of each course/program/level. But when they look at my transcripts, they will see that I did not complete some of my courses in normal time frame. Would that going to cause me a problem? Don't you think they might think I tried to lie?

I wish they had a better instruction on what they are looking for, normal length or the actual time taken to complete it.

This is to all of you, did you guys finish your degree(s) exactly on time? If not, what did you write on the schedule 1 form?

remember you have to mention about post secondary qualifications only. Read instructions before comleting any form.donot start from kinder garden"KG" level.

if your completion time differs alot than the required time then you must enter the exact time you took to complete ( in case you've done some extra courses) otherwise if you repeat some of the courses after getting failed to achive the grade you were required to... then for repeated courses im not sure if u've to again count them in it or not ... but in my openion you'll have to count them(repeated courses) once...

Thanks, but they asked for details on secondary and post secondary and before that you have to write the years you have spent in each level starting from elementary.

Univesity/college =
Trade school or other post secondary school =

Give full details of all the secondary and post secondary education (including university, college, and apprenticeship training you have had.

These are the three reasons I am having difficulty how many years to write:

1. It took me 4 years to complete a 2-year long high school equiavalent (I.Sc.) program (failed twice) back home and not sure if I should count it 2 years or 4 years,
2. I also studied towards Bachelor's degree for 2 years back home, but did not complete it. Not sure if I need to include the information on an incomplete degree/study and time I spent for it.
3. Came to the US to learn English and spent a year in English School (it was a university) and took some General Ed classes along the way. Not sure if I need to count this time too.

Transferred to another university and completed BS in 2 years 10 months (transferred some courses from back home and also from my English language university), and MA in 2 years and moved to another university and completed MS in one year. Thanks.

u failed n repeated but you only hav 1 degree or certificate which mentions the duration of your course you cant include the previious yrs in which you failed cuz what eva u say ull hav to prove it later so collect all your degrees/school leaving certificates or any other mid term examination certificates which prooves that your courses r complete and transferable n read the duration written on them add them all n then do the assesment...

I tried to get help from other forums too, but did not get much help and I am very confused and kind of leaning toward just writing the normal length of each level.

So, I will put like this, 5 yeas for primary, 7 years for secondary, 4 years for university degree, and 3 years for 2 master's degrees.

If they want to know how many years I spent for each degree or in each level, then they can look at the detail information on my education right below the break downs of years. I have listed exact dates even for incomplete studies and english language program.

Print Application Kit. Read instructions in full, its the best tool to read, understand and apply in completion of your application & other forms. Spoon feeding will only confues you.

Make sure your application is completed correctly, and that you include all the necessary supporting documentation. Use the checklist included in the guide (Appendix A) to make sure your have not forgotten anything.

With all due respect, I disagree that the application kit has all the necessary information to be able to fill out the forms correctly. I have looked at the it several times and I have not found where it says how to fill out the education section other than just explaining what bachelor's, master's and PhD's are. Why can't them rephrase the freaking question like "write the actual time taken for you to finish each level" or they can say something like "write the normal length of each level you have completed."

I think it should be the normal time for each level. If somebody took twice as long to do a degree than normal, it wouldn't make sense to give him more points for it. Same as if somebody did a degree faster, they shouldn't get less points. Same degree, same points.

But in any case, if you have a question or you are not sure about something, the best authority is CIC/visa office/embassy. Try your best, write down everything you are not sure about and then see if you can call them and get all your questions answered in one go.
