Hi there

I submitted my express entry profile last year in June 16. At the time of submission i was awarded a CRS of 431 points.
Since my submission we had a child in Dec 16. I updated my profile to reflect my dependents as 2 people (wife and baby) from 1 person(wife). Since doing so my CRS has dropped to 430? I know its only 1point but why would this score drop? Does anyone have any advice.

Also I have done IELTS and ECA for both my wife and I but our score still seems quite low?
I have a 3+ degree in Construction and have been working for near 9years
My wife has a 3+ degree in LAW and has been working 8+years as a lawyer. She also has a post grad 1year course which is required to practice LAW within UK.

Below is a breakdown of my score does this look right? What can i do to get a higher score.... I am stuck for ideas :(

Federal Skilled Worker Met
Provincial Nominee Program Not Met
Canadian Experience Class Not Met
Federal Skilled Trades Not Met
Overall Score 430
CRS - Human Capital - Age 90
CRS - Human Capital - Level of Education 112
CRS - Human Capital - First Official Language Proficiency 125

CRS - Spouse - Level of Education 8
CRS - Spouse - First Official Language Proficiency 20

CRS - Skill Transferability - Education 25
CRS - Skill Transferability - Foreign Work Experience 50
CRS - Skill Transferability - Certificate of Qualification 0

CRS - Provincial/Territorial Nomination 0

Hi

My IELTS score was

Listening - 8.0
Reading - 8.0
Writing - 9.0
Speaking - 9.0
Overall - 8.5

My wifes score was:
Listening - 8.5
Reading - 8.0
Writing - 8.5
Speaking - 9.0
Overall - 8.5

Are you saying to do another IELTS test or French Test?

I think you're pretty much maxed out here. You could learn French for more points as well as get another 1 year diploma or something. Otherwise... It's an lmia or a PNP you need. But I think the points will drop to 430 this year.

Thanks Kryton.

Its just strange that i have such low points.... I dunno if i have filled out the ECA part correctly for my wifes section which could be why the points are low?

For her 3yr UK Law degree she was awarded a Canadian equivalent of [Bachelors of Law].
For her 1yr UK Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice she was awarded a Canadian equivalent of [Postgraduate diploma (one year)]
I dont know what this would fall under on the CIC website eg:

Under Level of Education would this be equivalent to a "one yer programme from an university/institute" or ''professional degree to practice in a licensed profession''?? As the diploma/qulification sort of falls under both?

Have you received an ITA yet? if you dont mind me asking?

A few of my friends had scores of under 300 and ended up doing things the 'non legit' way and just flying out to BC and applying from there.... and heres me trying to do thing the proper way and getting no where!

You have missed full transferability points because your education. (you do not have either 2 diplomas or Master degree or PhD). That costs you 25 points on transferability and additional 10 to 25 points on education.
Would you have that Master diploma, you could get close to 470 points.
Here are your options:
1. you will sign in yourself for 1 year master diploma (that can give you 25 + 13 points). At the same time you will loose 5 points a very least (because of the age)
2. you will go after French language (that can give you 22 points max). At the same time you might again loose some points for age (depends how fast you will learn it)
3. You can combine option 1 and 2 together. That can get you over 470 points even after you loose points for age (assuming that you get the diploma and learn French to certain level at the same time).
4. You will check all Provincial programs to see where you can fit in. If you manage to get PNP, that means practicaly certain ITA invitation.
5. You will do none of the above and stay on your points hoping that ITA points will drop on your level. (so far ITA points never dropped below 450 points). As the time goes you will be loosing points for aging.

For you to choose what is the best strategy.

Make your spouse PA. Presumably they qualify for additional points on '2 or more degrees...'.

Ok thanks.

I think its prob worth trying to go down the PNP route. I cant see the points dropping to 430 anytime soon especially with the situation with Trump/USA and Brexit/UK/Europe....

Any advice on PNP before i indulge in some heavy reading...

thanks

HI Asivad

Can i still make my spouse PA even though i have submitted my application? - How many extra points are we talking here?
And will we still qualify for EE if my wife is PA?
thanks

You and your spouse can have both EE profile stating each other as dependant. When at least one of you will receive ITA the second shall deactivate his or her profile (if you accept that ITA of course). If both of you receive ITA, then only one of you shall accept it.
When it comes to your spouse second degree, you need to check how exactly was it assessed. If it is stated as 1 year university degree, than she shall put it as such and that will give her additional points for transferability. However question is what will be her score for age.

Thanks for the advice.

My wifes age is 32 so not sure what the score will be? I am 31 - going to be 32 in March.

So if i understand this correctly i can setup 2 EE profiles one for me and one for my spouse? is this allowed with CIC?

Thanks

then your wife will have 85 points for age. But on the bright side, is she has correct assessment she can get full transferability points. So she will be somewhere between 460 and 470 points.
It is legal for both of you to have own EE account. You just cannot both accept ITA, thats all.
As for PNP, you need to check them one by one, since you alone can check if you match their conditions. Check PNP directory on this forum. There is very nice thread about all PNP there.

Thanks Vensak - Good advice ;)

lets try and my wife and see what happens.....
