Help! Where can I do criminal record check in Calgary?

Any body knows where to do upfront criminal check in Calgary?

we went to the local police station and finished the paper application. But later we were told by friends that we need the RCMP record for EE, not local police record.
Then we asked the police for finger print agencies.

But when we visited one of them --- commissionaries, we were told that no upfront criminal record check is allowed in Alberta any more. That's the new policy of this year.
however, our friends in Toronto said they can still do the upfront criminal check.

Anybody can give suggestions? must we wait until we get the file no.?

Just go to police office responsible for issuing police clearance certificate...just tell them that you need police clearance certificate for immigration purpose...they will just ask for two government photo id's and a payment of around 50 dollars followed by your fingerprints..you will receive crrtificate within 15 days at your mailing address...
