Hi everyone,
I am a Pakistani who was brought to Canada at the age of 4 in 1995 by my family who had immigrated on a refugee claim but was not given Canadian citizenship because the case that my father had submitted was put into security check due to the political reasons he had stated which he had no idea of, he ended up setting up a very successful business and was doing very well for himself and his family, I've studied elementary school and junior high school from Calgary Alberta and even after 10 years my fathers case was still in security check with the Canadian immigration, i can speak Urdu but unfortunately i cannot read or write it at all and in December of 2005 my father decided to pack all his things sell his business and move back to Pakistan (which I thought was a very stupid idea but I was only 15 then and was told if was a vacation). My family has also received a Canadian protected persons document in 2005 and when I did my research on it I realized that my father could have applied for citizenship through that document but didn't quite understand what happened. I'm 25 now and I've been trying to go back to Canada for years due to the stupid idiotic mistake my father made, no one understands my situation I feel like I'm a Canadian and everyone that asks me where I'm from I say I'm Pakistani but they don't quite understand that because of how fluent I am in English. I'm currently in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia trying to find a job so I don't have to be in Pakistan and I still have the Canadian protected person document with me. I also had a younger brother who was born and died in Calgary, Canada.

Does anyone know what I can do or who I can talk to?

Your advise would be really appreciated.

Unfortunately the old refugee claim is dead now and it's not something you can use to return to Canada.

If you want to immigrate to Canada then you'll have to qualify and apply through one of Canada's economic immigration streams. You can find this information here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/apply.asp

Unfortunately I do not not have the qualifications to take that route but, you mean to say that all of my childhood and preteen years is disregarded? Like it never happened?

The years you spent in Canada as a child / teen unfortunately don't count for anything.

I would recommend you focus on obtaining the qualifications required to return to Canada through one of the economic immigration programs. Good luck.
