Help: Student Visa (If obtained) then how to obtain a off campus work permit.

Hello.

I am from Bangladesh applied in Saint Mary's University for a 2 years MA program.

If I get a student visa (Graduate level) then how to obtain a off work permit? When should I apply for it? I saw in cic.ga.ca that, I need to wait for 6 months out of 12 months to obtain a off campus work permit. That means for first 6 months I will just study without any work? Now I am really confused because if I don't work for 6 months then how will I adjust my expenses in Canada?

Those who are already Canada please help me, share your experience so that I can plan things properly. I really need to arrange some work whenever I reach there. Please share your experience with me...

1. That is correct, you can't apply for an Off Campus WP until you have completed 6 months. That is why you have to have $10K in cash for living expenses.

You can work on-campus for the 6first 6 moths. You are allowed to work on campus.

Thank you very much for the information. I have money still I was thinking whether there r any way to work off campus. On campus job is a good idea but m not sure whether those jobs r available for intl. students...

Yes, if you approach the internation students office they will def help you get an on campus job if its available. They give pref to intl students compared to others since they know how imp it is for intl students to get a job. Cheers!
