I invited my boyfriend to come visit me here in Canada but I only mentioned in my invitation letter that he’s only a family friend. If he get’s approved and come here, should he tell the immigration that I’m his girlfriend or just stick with what I said on the letter? And also, if we get married while he’s here and he told the immigration that “we’re only friends”, would there be any problem/conflicts in the future if he applies for sponsorship?

as to what he says to immigration, i would be honest,-- you lied on the application, which is misrepresentation... should have just been honest

will advice he should stick with what you said in the invitation letter.....and tell immigration at entry point that he’s only a family friend.

if you get married while he’s here after telling immigration that “you were only family friends”, would there be any problem/conflicts in the future if he applies for sponsorship.........anyone could marry their family friend.........relationship could start even at first meet.......if you were to sponsor him, you would be a liar if you make any reference to a boyfriend relationship before his visit......that's my opinion anyway.

Spousal Sponsorship application is approved based on the proof and genuineness of your marriage/relationship.

If we ever apply for sponsorship in the future, won’t they find about it? Also, does immigration officers in Canada have a copy of the invitation letter we sent?

IRCC Canada and IRCC abroad.......is all the same IRCC........most information in Canada and abroad is accessible and shared........so you need to be careful, intelligent and consistent with information shared with IRCC.

I agree with Wakki. Stick to what you said on the application. As far as anyone is concerned your relationship grew once he was here. If he says something different at the border compared to what you said they may not let him in at all.
