spousal sponsorship are processed on a case basis and the speed of processing depends on your case and the visa office.
if you have a permanent residence sponsorship application in-process......chances of visitor visa approval is low as the applicant now has stronger ties to Canada and likely to over stay there visit.....chances is low but not impossible.

Hiring
A lawyer will not speed up your process all they do is charge you to fill out the paperwork. Waste of money in my opinion. Normally when you apply for sponsorship the won't approve the visit visa. Good luck.
