Hi guys,

Not sure if anyone has ever been in the issue I'm facing here. I lost my passport last year with valid Canadian TRV up to the expiration date of that passport.

This year I got the new passport and reapplied for Canadian TRV again, however on the new visa the expiration date is still the same as that of my old passport...

Question: why didn't they issue new visa with expiry date that matches the new passport??

thanks,
zgzjhzxhq

because your original visitor visa is still valid so you can not apply for another extension before certain time (my guess 90 days before expiration).. some senior members can confirm the exact time.

Your new TRV was correctly issued until the validity of the old TRV because it was lost. You have not submitted a new TRV application per se. This is probably done to prevent any misuse of the previous TRV in case your old passport is found

Thanks guys for reply... It's actually ok as long as i'm planning to visit Canada this year... What really pissed me of is that I paid $180 for 1 year visa.
