Hi there,

as I am going to apply my spouse sponsorship in Canada,

I have got a few questions about it.
Hope you can give me a help! ;)
cheers!

1. Is it the right link and forms that I should be completed?
Application for Permanent Residence From Within Canada – Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada Class (IMM 5289)

Any other forms that I have to fill out?

2. For the medical test, criminal records and background check, should I do all of them right now and send them together with my application forms?

3. Do I need to give the information to proof the relationship? Like the phone records, messages, wedding invitation card, etc. ?
I can only find the requirement of travelling and wedding pictures on form IMM5285, is it necessary for me to give them those records?

4. Do I need to take the IELTS test in the future?
or there are any information I have to submit together with my sponsorship forms?

Thank you very much.

Yes, those are the correct forms.

You should send the police certificates with the application. I would wait for the medical though as it expires after a year, and inland currently takes over 2 years.

You should proof that you are in a genuine relationship. Phone records, cards, etc can all help prove your relationship.

You do not need to take IELTS for Family Class.

Note: Depending on your country of origin, it may be substantially faster to apply outland, which you can do while remaining in Canada.

Thank you for your reply. ;D

so.. I just have to fill out all those forms, right? no extra information or forms?

For the police certificates, do you mean I should apply for it to my government and send the spouse sponsorship forms right at the same time?

Thank you very much! I am quite worried about the application :'(

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp

Follow the instructions to get a police certificate from your country. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/index.asp
In most cases, you should apply for it and send it at the same time as your application. Some countries do not allow that, and insist that you get a document from CIC in order to get a police certificate. This is why I recommend that you look at the instructions for your particular country.

Big thanks!

"Do I need to provide a Police Certificate for Express Entry?

Yes, but only after you submit your application.
When you apply for permanent residence, you will be asked to upload a police certificate. Instead, you must upload a document that states: “I am applying from a country that requires an official request letter from CIC to get a police certificate.”
CIC will then review your application. If it is otherwise complete, we will send you more information on how to get a police certificate. Please read the instructions above for more information."

That means I don't have to apply for it right now, and wait till the request of CIC in order to get the police certification?

Thank you!

Sorry, I thought you were applying to sponsor your spouse. If you are in fact applying for Express Entry, then I would suggest you post in that section of the forum.

I am applying for the spouse sponsorship, not the Express Entry. I just copied the whole paragraph from the webpage...

It's important to know that the requirements are technically not the same.

For example, CIC is well aware of the FBI delays in receiving an IHSR (PCC) letter, for those that need one from The U.S., which is why so many Inland applicants are able to defer including it with the Inland application. Just including a short note, explaining that it will be forwarded upon receipt, will suffice.

If the processing time to receive your PCC is more than a few weeks, you can include a note as well.

You do NOT want to wait for CIC to request it, because that will certainly delay the process!

so.. you recommend me to apply for the police certificates right now without the CIC requests?

Yes, if it's possible. Some countries require that CIC contact them directly.

What country/countries do you need this from?

But... the certificate just valid for 6 months, does it mean I will be requested for it again in the future.. or..

No...The PCC is valid for much longer than 6 months now.

Read through the information on CIC's site.

Oh...and I'd wait to have the medical until you're well into the waiting game, because it will expire after one year.

gotcha! Thank you for your information! ;)

So... I am going to apply for the police certificates and send the application forms out at the same time, do the medical test till CIC requests.
**sorry, if the police certificates will send to my address, does it mean I have to mail it together with my application?**

Instead of the forms, are there any important stuff I have to send together?

By the way, are there any benefits for taking the medical test right now? How much does it take?

Also, would like to know what is the different if the spouse is pregnant?

Again, thank you very much!

As mentioned, you should send the police certificates with your application.

If the applicant is pregnant, then the medical should be delayed until after delivery. The medical is only valid for 12 months, so it doesn't make any sense for an inland applicant to do the medical upfront, given that the processing times are over 2 years.
If the sponsor is pregnant, there is no difference.

As for the important stuff to send, read the guide carefully. All the required documents are listed there.

Ok! Thank you very much.

sorry, still want to know if it is necessary to provide the call log and messages details in order to proof the relationship?

it is very hard to get all those, as we have chatted for couple years ..
and we got new mobile phones... sigh
