hi

i need clarification from form imm 5490 first part that say "did you have any contact with your sponsor before you meet in person?"
in our case i met my husband since i was still in my country i have known him for 2 years since 2004 and we immigrated to canada 2006 so from that year onward i knew him already.

so, how will i answer the first question is it base the year we really first met or it pertains when we met again after i migrated? because our situation is not the same as the others they like penpal situation.

the question refers to two (2) different events: 1- Contact: that can be by phone, email, letter, chat, etc. without actually "meeting" the other person face to face; 2- Meeting: refers to the actual getting together in person, face to face. Some people first get in touch or "meet" online, or get introduced by dating services like Match.com, etc. so they not necessarily meet face to face the first time.

if your first "contact" with your husband was when you met him face to face the first time, then select "No" for question 1, and then enter the date when you met him for the first time in person, in question 2.
