HI, everyone .
Please I need advice from any experienced person because I have issue about how long it takes to get a work permit while waiting for PR application.. I am a Nigerian who came to Canada to meet my Canadian GF who was my fiance at that time with a 6months visitors visa, I entered Canada on the 3rd of May 2016 and me and my fiance got married on the September 9th, we filed application for a work permit and PR on 28th of September by mail( I don know how long it took to get there because I understand that application must be applied 30day before the expiration date on the visa) However, I received an email dated December 6,2016 stating that my application for PR was received by IRCC on 10/11/2016 and then on April 10,2017 I received another email requesting a Police certificate(s) and fingerprint from my home country Which I have gotten and mailed to IRCC ready on 24 May 2017 ..

My problem is , normally on the IRCC website it state that work permit take about 3months to be out..Nevertheless, it have been over 6months now and the work permit is not out yet, so am worried because I have been just setting at home doing nothing while my wife work and doing too much, spending money on food and paying bills. My question is , "Since it is over 6 month now since my application was receiver and no work permit is there some thing wrong or is there anything I could do about my Visa, if I need to apply to extend my visa because I dont want to have immigration issue or could this delay be because of my visitors visa is now expired? "

Please I would need any kind of assistance because am getting frustrated already.

Thanks Guys
Mike

Yes something is wrong, as OWP should have been received after approx 3 - 4 months. You should contact IRCC directly to find out what the delay is.

You have implied status now as visitor, so there is no need to apply for any visitor extensions.

SIr, I applied via a lawyer I am wondering if to contact IRCC directly or could the lawyer know exactly what is wrong?

Sounds like a lazy/bad lawyer. The OWP should have been approved a long time ago. Something is definitely wrong...

Thanks I contacted the lawyer and he said that it takes longer especially since it was applied for together with the pr. he also said that it will be out soon
Your lawyer doesn't know what he is talking about. If you applied at the end of September, the OWP should have been issued by February. Note that April inland applicants are now receiving their OWPs.

It is very possible that the lawyer might have screwed something up. You need to contact IRCC directly.

Yep - I completely agree. I would be worried the lawyer is trying to cover up something he messed up.
