Help Parents visiting US, CIC requested for passports

Hi,

My parents are in US with my sister, CIC India sent a request for passports and gave 30 days to submit them to India VFS global branch in person.

Lawyer has emailed Canada embassy in India for additional time, waiting for their response. Should parents return to India .? Has this happened with anyone? Does CIC allow to submit passports in US for stamping of permanent VISA?

Any response would be appreciated, thanks

The last one. If you are referring to permament residence visas, then they can FedEx their passports to CPC Ottawa for stamping while they are in the US if they are there for at least 1 month.

If they are in the US for less than 1 month, your agent did the right thing to request for an extension until they return to India

Thank you for replying. Yes they are in US for more than a month - till Dec.

One follow up question- they are in US on visitor visa. Is it allowed to live in US without passports .

If you mean they won't have the passports during the visa stamping, then this is not a big deal unless they are traveling out of the US, although they shouldn't plan to travel on any domestic flights either.

Although I was also an outland applicant that had my PR visa stamped in Ottawa, it took about 3 weeks because Ottawa had to reconfirm my approval with my local VO.
