Hello, I started my 2 yrs masters program in may 2013, and in may 2014, i took break for the summer, and worked full time as an engineering technician in a company full time for 4 months... and when the classes started in Sept 2014, I told the company that i have to work part time till the courses are finished... so I studies full time and worked part time from sept 2014 to april 2015, and after my courses were over in april 2015, and i once again joined full time in the same company and working there till present...

My Work exp is

MAY 2014 to Aug 2014 = Full time
Sept 2015 to April 2015 = Part time
May 2015 till present = Full time

And while creating the express entry profile, I gave the work as may 2014 to present... and the only question it asked was, when you worked 40 hrs per week , did you study full time?, and for the question I answered no... as i worked only part time 20 hrs per week when i studied full time...
So my points was 465 last week, and on the first of april, my points raised to 478.. as they gave points for 2 year work experience... but i worked only part time for six months.. And today i got an invitation as the cut off is 470.... So I fear I do not have the work hours equivalent to 2 yr work experience... am I going to get into trouble for that... any comments... what to do...

Someone else can correct but can you even claim work experience whilst on a study visa assuming that was your visa through april 2015

Hi Michael,

1) When did you get your post-graduate work permit?
2) MAY 2014 to Aug 2014 = Full time, was it a co-op job?

Canadian work experience will be considered only after you get your postgraduate work permit.

Even I worked part-time during my study permit (thru off campus work permit). I have been told that those experiences will not be counted towards Canadian work experience.

Work experience after PGWP is considered for canadian experience.. In your case it might change the whole story... Wait for some more opinions..

on this basis only experience from may 2015 would count and nothing whilst on the study permit so not even a year yet

so on this basis the application has been made and invite received claiming 2 years canada experience when in fact whilst studying full time that work is discounted as is the initial 4 months as that would not be continuous to may 2015, so in effect only 11 months work experience todate

I graduated on May 2015, but was on study permit till July 2015, and since there is a 90 days grace time, I worked full time... I got my PGWP only in Sept 2016... Which means I have only 7 months exp ???

I have read in many instances that the period from when you applied to date count towards your work experience. Someone to confirm.

Under Express entry help centre, this below line is repeated many times....

Your work experience must have been gained in Canada within the three years before we receive your Canadian Experience Class application. Work experience gained while studying full time on a student permit does not count...

But after graduating, you are allowed to work Full time with study permit.... So can I include that...

Dont forget to decline the invitation you received yesterday..

Yes... I have declined the invitation... And now what should i do....
Withdraw profile and create a new one... or modify my existing profile....
and what about that job bank profile...
