Hi, I am currently visitor in Canada. on October 2014 me and my husband sent outland application to be sponsor under family class. My husband is my sponsor, I am from Poland. Cic emailed me letter on 28 October 2014 and they informed me that thy received our application for permanent resident in Canada. I was confused why it's say in Canada, but I thought it's not big deal. I called cic recently to check my application status and they told me my application is inland application not outland!!I called again and agent promised me to email Mississauga to review my application again.he told me to wait 4 weeks before I should call again. My husband call another agent and he told him we should leave this like that and I can apply for work permit. I don't understand them, every time you call them they give new information or advice.what I should do? All my forms we mailed they are outland forms and what cic do about that?this guy told my husband they don't decline us, they just maybe ask to send more forms, documents.please if someone have similar situation or any information to help me, please tell me. Thanks

What can I say to this? :o If you applied outland, you applied outland, why should a call centre agent try to convince you that you should apply inland instead and that after all, yes, they made a mistake but there's a silver lining to it?!?! Unbelievable.

I would not take his advice and insist that your application is processed as an outland one, as it was originally intended. Unfortunately, it seems that what the first call centre agent told you is true. Once they mark up your file for review at Mississauga you have to wait for a few weeks (four in this case). BUT: if I were you, I'd call again on Monday to confirm that you have not given them permission to keep your file in the inland pile. Also, if you applied in October and have not heard from them after 81 days, maybe get your MP involved.

Don't let them get away with their mistake, you'll be the one facing the consequences!

Thanks, yes I will call again. I just can believe I waited for so long cause I thought they do first step in our application.

I know, it's an unnecessary waste of time. By the way, this happened before to other applicants, especially around September last year. Some of them were told that the mistake would not affect their overall processing times, but it's CIC, so who knows! Good luck to you.

call the sponsor's Member of Parliament ASAP!

This happened to me too...

I spoke to the call centre who sent a message to Missasaugua and told me to wait for a response. So far, nothing and it's been about a week.

How did it work out for you? I don't know if contacting the MP in Ottawa would do any good.

yes, it sure would. i would say to give cic 2 weeks, after that, go straight to the sponsor's MP and ask them to inquire.

@agniesiulz:

Did CIC ever back to you? How did your situation turn out? Did they correct their mistake or are you still waiting?

I am currently experiencing this same issue and I submitted my application in October!! How many people has this happened to? What can I do?

This is how I acted:

I called CIC's call centre (1-888-242-2100) and spoke to an agent who informed me that she emailed CPC Missassauga to advise them of the error. This was January 30th. On February 5th I called again and they said that the email was received on CPC Missassauga's side and that it was added to the file.

However, the file has not been reviewed, and the correction has not been made.

It's insane that this happens to so many people - it's pretty clear which application kit we used, forms say "to completed by spouse living OUTSIDE of Canada".

I'm going to wait a bit until I pull the MP card, as I feel if I use it too early, I won't be able to use it if I really need it (say, if I havent had the correction changed in 1 month's time or something).

this has just happened to me,

OMG that's terrible, I'm so sorry!

What was the reason your application was returned? If you had filled in the right forms for OUTLAND, then it should have simply been moved to the correct processing office which processes outland instead of inland!
