Hi Friends
Can any one help me out from this situation.I have finished first stage of my AINP through a lawyer for 2nd stage (i.e., i have sent my documents for getting invitation letter) for this stage he is delaying my process and response is very bad.So now is it possible for me to apply my side because who ever applied by their own at the time when my application is their process is going great.Looking forward for replies.

adding 2 cents here...

strictly speaking for AINP nomination lawyer is not needed, if the applicant follows the instructions provided
by AINP... in this situation I would suggest you calling Alberta hotline directly and explain it to them....

I dumped my lawyer after getting PNP nomination for the very same reason... he was too lethargic with least
sense of urgency and responsibility (but for the $$$) towards his client...

Two things you might want to consider in your decision...

1- Have the confirmation letter from AINP, you'll need it in order to apply in the second stage (Not too much of a problem I guess you can request a copy to Alberta)
2- Check the contract you signed with your lawyer... just to make sure you don't have any liabilities.

I had gone through a lawyer previously for my CIC FSW application..

I never got that lawyer (although he had made offers) involved in my AINP nomination
and now the CIC PNP process.... I am pursuing PNP myself

After reading all this I am still planning to hire a lawyer as I am about to apply for H1 extension or may be H1 transfer in next 4-5 months. I was wondering which lawyer you hired and was not processing the application fast. I want to be cautious and not pick the wrong person.

After reading all this I am still planning to hire a lawyer as I am about to apply for H1 extension or may be H1 transfer in next 4-5 months. I was wondering which lawyer you hired and was not processing the application fast. I want to be cautious and not pick the wrong person.

it makes no difference to processing of AINP whether a lawyer represents or the applicant represents... it might save time and mistakes since
the lawyer is "expected" to submit an application without any flaws...

but ainp application is not that difficult... plus if u go through these two or three threads
veterans has vetted many many questions... yes its painful to go through them... but it is a mine of
vital information

Don't go with a lawyer!! You don't need it, it is a waste of money, and I've heard they make many mistakes, you will make it better and FASTER if you apply by yourself...since it is a new process even lawyers don't have experience with that...

Hire me instead hahahaha...or ingegarcia, or aipdude, or other senior....

It is a very common practice to hire a lawyer for the US immigration related cases (H1B, GC etc). But a very few people hire lawyers or immigration consultants for the immigration processes of Canada and other countries. Unlike the US, other countries provide better information and make things much simpler. That being said, there are things that are hard to understand and get the answer right the first time even for the Canadian process. In the moments like that, the forum like this and many wonderful members of it come to your rescue.

I am going through the immigration processes of three different countries simultaneously including the US and I did not hire a single lawyer as I have heard/read many sad stories of people went through lawyers, paid a lot of money, but got a very little help. I did not know the answers to many questions, but I took advantage of forums like this and got all the answers I needed.

I agree with many of the posts here... if you want to gift money, we can help you )) no need a lawyer for that!!!... it's a joke!!

At least in my case... I am tired of wasting money with lawyers..... here in US I paid 5-6k for my first Green card process.... the Labor Certificate took almost 4 years.... later I changed jobs, I lost the money and I had to file again, but this time PERM... I paid initially 2.5k... and it was supposed to be easy... painless and I should get it in 2 months..... ha ha...... it is more than 400 days and the PERM is still in process... audited because the lawyer filled up the wrong field... my H1B was almost screwed ... and last year the lawyer had to file H1B extension 2 days before it expired so they can buy some time due to H1B was over 7 years and my labor wasn't pending for more than a year... anyway my visa was extended for 1 year...

So...... this made my mind and ... right before my H1B expired I applied myself to AINP, so I did not have to blame anyone else of my faith ) I followed the instructions.. yes I had to read forums, instructions, ask questions in forums/Alberta/CIC.. but so far everything is OK. At least if I don't get it I do not have to say anything against the lawyers, etc..

BTW this post reflects solely my opinion and should not influence your decision of hiring a lawyer.. good luck!

Hi Nix1, what are the three countries that you are going through, I heard UK has changes their criteria. Do you have any useful links or forums for UK to do it yourself.

USA, Canada, and New Zealand.

From what I infer from an old post -- you can apply by yourself. Once your extension comes through, you will have to send a copy of it to AB office with a letter giving the explanation that you have got an extension of your visa.
