Hi All,

This is my first post in the forum. I would like to know how many points I would be awarded for my education.

After 10th grade, I did my Diploma in Electrical. That was a three years certificate course. Then I joined Bachelors of Engineering degree in Electrical. Actually bachelors of engineering degree is a four years course. But since I had completed my diploma, I joined directly in the second year of engineering degree under lateral entry scheme. So in short, after my 10th grade I attended my diploma and engineering (6 years).

Can someone pls tell me under which category as mentioned below, points would be awarded for my education?

For your information, I am single.

Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees. - 128 points

Bachelor’s degree or other programs (three or more years) at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute - 120 points

Please let me know in case if you need any other information.

Thanks!!

In my opinion, You would have to select the Bachelors Degree option(3+ years) as your diploma was lateral entry to the degree program. You can get the ECA for both your diploma and the degree and see what the report says.

You get 120 points for your bachelors degree.

You can't claim for both (bachelors and diploma).

Hello , I have exactly same situation (3 Yr. Diploma + 3 yrs. BTech Lateral Entry) and i got my ECA report 2 days ago which was

For Diploma -- Canadian Equivalency: Secondary school diploma and diploma (two years)
For B.Tech -- Canadian Equivalency: Bachelor's degree (four years)

This is how they calculate actually. Now if you will check CIC website , you will clearly notice that

http:// www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/eca-conversion.asp

Diploma will fall under "Two-year degree, diploma or certificate from a program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute"
B.Tech will fall under "Bachelor’s degree or other programs (three or more years) at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute"

So with spouse you will only get 112 points and without spouse 120
