Job Offer........

Can somebody clarify how to calculate part-time working hours to full-time equivalent!!

"Thanq"

I read on cic website, not sure where, wait let me pull out for you, Its 37.5 hours weeks for count a full time job, so counts your part times hours accourdingly and you can see, how many months of years you can have equivalent a full time job.

Guys,
Pardon my ignorance but if an OP works 17 hours a week, how many months will that have to be to make 1-year full time?

Factor 3 Work experience (maximum of 21 points)
You will earn points for the number of years you have spent in full-time (37.5 hours per week), paid work.
Minimum Work Experience Requirements
You must meet the following minimum work experience requirements to be eligible to apply as a skilled worker:

You must have at least one continuous year of full-time, paid work experience or the equivalent in part-time continuous employment.

If Part time work is like we need to complete Full time hours by working part time, then 17 hours per week Part time / 37.5 hours per week Full time, its defference of more then half, so 1 year Full time / 2 years and some months Part time. Its my understanding.

I think FULL TIME may mean FULL TIME in the true sense. I hope I am wrong, but, part time may not count as full time.
I think the requirement is 1 year minimum full time experience. Not part time.

To be eligible for points, the applicant's work experience must:

• have occurred during the 10 years immediately preceding the date of application submission;

• be in occupations listed in the National Occupational Classification (NOC) under Skill Type 0
or Skill Level A and B;

• not be in an occupation that has been designated by the Minister as a restricted occupation.
At the time of printing, there were no occupations designated as restricted. However, for the
most up-to-date listing, officers should refer to the Department's Web site at
ww.cic.gc.ca/skilled.

A) One-year continuous full-time experience: this means one year in one skilled occupation to
demonstrate an ability to establish oneself economically;

or

(B) The equivalent in continuous part-time employment in one or more occupations.

Hope this helps!!!

Part time would be count but depend on duration for claiming points.

"You must have at least one continuous year of full-time, paid work experience or the equivalent in part-time continuous employment".

One year continuous Full time or equivalent part time, now depend how many hours has been spent in part time work. As OP said, it was 17 hours per week, while Full time work per CIC regulation, Full time work experinece will be count if Job was 37.5 hours per week.

I was working part time 5 hours every day and it was included Sunday too. So i have 35 hours per week while i need 37.5 per week for equivalent of full time requirements, so If i have 1 year and some what 2 or 3 months more in Part time following 5 hours daily, then it would be equivalnet 1 year of full time work experinece. This is what my personal opinion, by they way, maybe i am wrong in comparison, but please keep in count, PART time work is accpeted this is why its written in Requirements.

Now thats a debatable topic Bobby. And frankly, I dont have the answer. I wish I did.
