Hi guys, pls I need info from anybody with an issue, I currently have work permit and approval for AIP. Though still waiting for my DM, but the issue is I am currently off work due to PB, high blood pressure which my doctor say i shld not got back to the call centre I work cus it may be the reason my PB is high.... Here is my question i was to go the a job resource centre and that if am on EI I shld be able to get a training in a new field but I don't know if this can be seen as social support or not. As anybody ever gone through such before if so pls I need input as what to do or if I shld just wait till I get my DM!

EI (employment insurance) benefits is not welfare (social assistance). EI is deducted from your paycheque and you are eligible to apply for it if you loose your job through no fault of yours (i.e. you are not fired). In your case, it sounds like medical reasons (doctor's instructions), so go ahead and apply.
