Help! Expired passport in applying work permit?

hello!
is there anyone here who have a situation where in you applied for a work permit online without an attached passport instead a cover letter informing the CIC that as soon as the passport arrived (because you have renewed it), you submit it to follow? Because i'm planning to do so... am i making the right decision? do you think they will consider my request? my passport will expire sept.7 (tomorrow) same as my work permit... passport renewal done July 8, not yet on hand...

I would like to share my experience to you.

My passport was to expire Dec 2014, and I had to show that I have a valid passport for the whole entire year while I am going to stay in Canada under a work permit. I decided to renew my Philippine Passport in March 2014, however because my LMO was expiring June 2014, I had to rush and send my application ASAP- that was in May 2014.

I applied online and together with my other documents on my checklist, I attached a scanned copy of the passport, and also a letter of explanation - informing them about the renewal, and promising to send my passport as soon as I get it renewed. Now... I knew that the processing time here in Riyadh is 6 months, so I was already expecting that in two months time my passport will be arriving just in time when they are reviewing my application. And in June 2014 my passport arrived and I just sent them a copy of it.

However, I think this might have added some time on my processing time because of some delay that it had caused to the completion of the review of my application. I had friends who applied the same time as me, and they got their request for medical earlier than me.

I don't think they will deny you as long as you send them an explanation letter, especially when you had to file before the LMO expires, this situation I think they will understand. On your part, you should mind to submit your renewed passport 1-2 months (or as early as possible) after you sent your application.
