A study permit becomes invalid 90 days after your study program has been completed. Your program is considered complete when you receive a notification of program completion from your school.

You were out of school for more than 90 days. This canceled your study permit automatically. Hence you're most likely out of status and are in Canada illegally.

I would contact CIC to find out if they think you are still in status. If they say you are out of status - you'll need to leave Canada and then try to obtain a new study permit from outside of Canada.

What my correspondence letter said is that the study permit becomes invalid 90 days after COMPLETION of studies irrespective of the date of expiry stated therein. If he did not complete his program, it is not invalid.

Still doesn't make him an illegal immigrant. I have a friend who came in March for September intake, he was asked at the airport to show proof of enough funds to support himself for that period without working and then they issued him his study permit and allowed him enter Canada.

The mistake this guy made was to work before starting school.

Kindly check this site.. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-institutions-list.asp

I am going to attend a private University hopefully this September. Since it is in the Designated Learning Institutions (DLI) list, I am secured.

The damage is already done. You can't go back in time and fix your mistakes.

At this point you might as well apply for the co-op work permit and see what happens. Time to time CIC makes a mistake and approves something they shouldn't. Who knows - maybe you'll get lucky and they'll make a mistake and approve you.

Your saying when i apply for coop immigration will take actions against me

Hi,I am also in a complicated situation ,hope someone can help me with this , even the mistake I made was long time ago. While I was in co-op program in December ,2014,I talked to my school about resignation and change institution. A week later ,I registered at another school and start taking class at the next month ,which was January,2015. And I still got my study permit extension which is based on the second school in March ,2015. Then I tried to contact my first school to finish the rest of the procedure for withdrawal from co-op. And I still travel and enter Canada in last Summer. Everything seems fine, until recently, I contact a consultant about my Visa stuff, she said I should have notified CIC for school changes as well ,otherwise I might get trouble on PR application in future. Is that true? And where can I claim my mistake ?Thanks in advance.
