Hi!
It's my first time posting help and I need your inisight urgently!
I recently got a great full time offer for early May after graduation which I have accepted but I have to travel to the US for 2 weeks as part of a mandatory training business trip for the job(I have US B1/B2 visa) . I'm not sure if I will be able to re-enter Canada if I have a post graduate work permit application pending at the time of re-entry.
I haven't applied for PGWP yet but will do immediately an official transcript is avaiable(Early May). I won't have PGWP in hand at the time I'll be making the business trip but I have a study permit and off campus work permit valid until July 31st 2013(It will be two 2 week business trips to US;one in May and one in June before my permits expire) I was told by someone that I might encounter problems at the port of entry even though I have valid documents because applying for PGWP is changing status from student to worker and they will question my motives if I am already done with school requirments.
I called CIC already and got annoyingly divergent answers. I called 3 times. One said it was okay, another said I should just make sure I take PGWP application receipt/job offer letter/Off campus work permit and study permit and the last one said it STRONGLY encouraged that international students DONT travel while PGWP is pending.
I really want to make a good impression on my new employer as this is going to be my first full time position and I want to attend the training trip! Has anyone ever travelled while PGWP was pending and succesfully re-entered? Was it a big deal to the border officer? I even called Canadian Border Services directly and they said its up to the discretion of the agent & final say is with immigration.
Please help if you know any information about this type of situation, I'm getting so stressed. I can't believe that getting a good job confirmed right out of graduation is becoming a stressor for me. Thanks for your any information you can provide!
