Hi there everyone,

I have a bit of a doubt where I need some help with, I found this forum I hope I can get some answers here.

I am being sponsored by my boyfriend on the common law sponsorship within Canada, we have been living together for three years now, we submitted our application on August last year so I will probably be hearing back from them about the assessment around the same time because they say it takes about a year or so.

Now, my question is, I obviously am aware of the amount of time we need to wait for answers regarding this matter but if we were to want to travel inside canada could I do that? Travel meaning airplane, would I get in any sort of trouble at the airport if I go for example Toronto Vancouver round trip. We want to know if that will not cause problems and how can we verify this information ? Should I call cic and ask them?

And one last thing, we got engaged on Christmas, would it help us if we submit information to them rewarding that? Or will it be irrelevant?

Thank you so much for taking the time to help.

Nope, no trouble at all.

No, your current application will not benefit from that. CIC couldn't care less about "engagements".

Actually, first stage of inland is currently taking 17 months, so you shouldn't expect to hear anything from CIC until early 2016.

Thank you for the answers, I know that is what i though its irrelevant to show them we got engaged the application is already in. And yes they say 12-17months pretty long time i am aware of the wait it is a long process for everyone.

So there is no problem if we travel through air within canada?

No.
