Hi All,

I am looking to persue 1 year Post Secondary International Business Management course from Canada. After that I would like to work for sometime and than persue MBA. Below is my brief profile.

1. Completed my 10th in the year 1994.
2. Completed my 10+2 in the year 1996.
3. Graduation in the year 2000.
4. Married and with a child of 3 years.
5. Would like to alone first and call family once I get settled in about 2 years time.

Have been into family business ever since.

The queries that I have are,

1. What are the chances of getting a VISA
2. Will I get work permit after completing this International Business Management course. If yes than for how long.
3. Will I be able to apply for PR
4. What are the job opportunities after completing International Business Management.
5. What salary can I expect.
6. While studying is it possible to work beyond permissible hours and what can I expect monetarily.
7. Please suggest any good college.

I know these are a lot of questions but request you all to kindly help me out.

Thanks In advance

Hi,
From what I see:

1. Really depends on your full profile, course selection and financial conditions. You need to mention your full profile as graduation stream, academic percentages, current and previous work ex etc., before I or anyone can comment in detail.
If you are eligible, you may even opt for a good MBA without wasting time & money on a PG certificate/diploma in IB. Remember since you are already a graduate, it is highly reccomended thta you pursue a PG level post secondary course in college and not simple Post secondary courses such as diplomas which are pursued after 12th To know more about study visa in Canada: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study.asp

2. Completing any post secondary programme of 2 academic years/4 semesters/16 months of min. actual study will make one eligible for max. possible 3 years PGWP(Post grad Work Permit). Anything less than that, one will get PGWP equivalent to the duration of the course. PGWP is offered only once in your lifetime. To know more about various work permits for international students in Canada see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work.asp

3. There are various student immigration programmes for international students. You will need to complete the course, get PGWP and start working (usually skilled jobs, may or may not be in area of your study depending on the immigration programmes) and after working anywhere from 3 to 12 months one is eligible to apply for PR under CEC or Provincial nomination and then PR. To know more about various student immigration programmes available to international students in Canada, visit the official links: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/various-immigration-programmes-for-international-students-in-canada-t100908.0.html

4. & 5. Really depends on you, your talent, skills, ability to network, job market and of-course luck.

6. You can work immediately if you find an ON-campus job and after completing 6 months of studies in Canada, an OFF campus job for max. 20 hours a week (part time) by applying for an OFF-campus work permit (OCWP). To know more on OCWP and various work permits visit the link on point 2.

7. Most colleges and PG certificates in IB/ other business areas offered by them are more or less same. (Mostly 1 year but there are also 2 years courses such as in Lambton college- Sarnia, Lloydminster and Toronto campuses and these are usually of 36-40 credits per acd. year or 2 years Global Business Management courses in Centennial college and Humber college.). Also only most of the PG level certificate programmes in IB/other Business areas are offered in Ontario colleges.

Hope it clears your queries.

Best of Luck.
