Please clarify.
For Continuous definition: At least 6 months of full-time, continuous work experience. This means there were no significant breaks in your employment with that employer during the six months.

I have a question about the definition of "a period of six consecutive months without any significant gaps or breaks." If an employee has an off period followed by a layoff within a few days (5 days) due to renewal, will this affect the calculation of the six-month employment period? Started in October 2025.

Continious is just that no breaks. A layoff is a break. What is your NOC?

Is it considered layoff if we are just waiting for a renewal? Under Healthcare category.
You are the one who used the word "layoff" in your first post. Doesn't matter it is not continious work for any break - layoff, quit and changed jobs, contract renewal. You need 6 months of CONTINIOUS work with no breaks to be eligible. So if you started in October 2025 then you work for 6 months with no break. You would be eligible in March.

I know I need 6 months of continuous (right spelling), but it is just made me confused because of the 5 days after the work off.

That is not continuous although you can try to argue that it was. Would consult a lawyer who should be involved in trying to justify that this should be considered continuous work in your application. If you may qualify for another draw relatively soon it may make sense to wait and apply when there will be no doubt that you have continuous work. If you apply now but get denied you may have wasted a lot of time and will have to attempt to qualify again.
