Do different provinces have different health insurances plan?
Is it mandatory to opt for health insurance?

Why would you not opt for Health Insurance when it's free and you are indirectly pay for it via high taxes?

Because I read it somewhere that Vancouver health insurance costs around 120+ CAD weekly and one needs to opt for it no matter what. I have not been to Canada yet, that's why confirming.

Try reading the BC MSP website for actual information...

Virtually every province is free.

BC does have a premium for people who earn above a certain amount (think it's around 40k CAD) but it's only around $35 a month. Real cheap.

Govt health insurance in Canada covers pretty much everything. Common exclusions are psych services, non-medically essential treatments (cosmetic stuff etc) and dental.

You can always get a top up private insurance plan (but a lot of employers give this at varying levels) that covers prescription drugs, dental, etc.
