Health Insurance till I get OHIP card

Hi, I am immigrating to Canada on 23rd May. Would like to get a health insurance till I get the OHIP card. Can I purchase the same from India? If yes, which companies provide it? I spoke with TATA AIG and 4 different agents told me 4 different things. Some say it's not possible, some say I have to take it under tourist visa. Please help.

It would be safer to buy a plan from the Canadian company. Lots of info in the health section and yes you should buy a 3 month policy.

It will be a lot easier to get reimbursed if you're dealing with a Canadian company. Also, Canadian insurance is less likely to have exclusionary riders that may cost you lots of money.
