Hi there,

My fiancee just got pregnant. She is from China and has a visitor's visa and I am from Canada.

I am wondering if we would be subject to non-Canadian newborn pregnancy fees.
Also, I am wondering if we would be able to get the newborn financial assistance like other Canadian newborns get.

So, any help would be much appreciated. I am searching for this type of information online but haven't been able to find anything with my exact situation.

Thanks,
Kevan

Since your wife is a visitor, you will be responsible for paying for all of the costs related to the pregnancy and birth out of your own pocket (these costs won't be covered by the provincial health care system).

The baby will qualify for CCTB provided you and the baby live in Canada.

You may want to get a medical insurance coverage for pregnancy related emergencies such as abdominal pain, miscarriage, bleeding, etc up to the 31 week of your fiancee pregnancy period.

You may want to check out this option and chat live with a representative concerning your particular situation if you CLICK HERE.

Unfortunately, she is not eligible for a provincial health care as she is a regular Visitor to Canada meaning that you will be paying for delivery yourself.
