Hi there,

I have a complicated situation here. Please somebody help me. I had called the help center but it wasn't much useful. ::)

So I live in Mississauga, ON. I am a Permanent Residence over here. Got my PR in 2008 but shifted here in 2012 because of my higher studies at my back home. Then I gave my PR Card for renewing in Sept, 2014 and got renewed in May, 2015. At that time I was at my back home due to some personal reasons. Went in Dec, 2014 and came back to Canada on 2nd July, 2015. Was traveling on the travel documents.
My PR card is expiring in 2020. So my question is can I travel outside Canada in this month Dec, 2015 for a month or so? Because eventually I will be applying for my citizenship when I will be allegeable for it. Hoping it won’t be a problem in the future while applying. :(

Please let me know about it. Will be appreciated. :)

Thank you.

Best wishes,
Jaynisha Muliya

To keep your PR status 100% safe, you must always meet the residency obligation. This means that at any given time you must be able to look back at the past 5 years and have spent 2 out of those 5 years in Canada.
