Has anyone travelled from India to Canada on an OWP??

Hi - i am holding an Open Work Permit that i got as part of the PNP PR program from Ontario province. I want to know, if i can travel on this visa from India to Canada? Though, it seems like a valid travel, but i have been seeing many posts where people are telling that commercial airlines wont allow to board unless one holds a PR card. Is that true that one cannot travel on Open WP visa stamping??

Want to ask - if anyone has travelled successfully on a Open WP (without job) from India (any city) to Canada?
Did they face any issues at the INdian airport immigration?
What were the questions he/she was asked at the Indian city airport immigration??

Not sure, if the immigration authorities in India know about Open WP visa and people trying to travel without job.

Pls let me know. I am scheduled to travel oct 1st week and would like to be prepared before the travel.,

As long as you have a visa with the Work permit I don't see any issues at the Indian Immigration...

Get Temporary Resident Visa(TRV) and you are good to go! You have to have work permit plus TRV to come to Canada.

AFAIK, Work Permit and Study permit come default with a TRV. You need not apply seperately for a TRV incase of Work and Study Permit. I guess, on landing at PoE, the VO will issue the actual TRV. I read this many times in the cic.gc.ca website and even in this forum as well.

you have wrong info bro...temproray resident visa is different from work permit...if you have OWP..you need to apply for TRV so that you can re enter canada....the only exception is if you are going to US and coming back from US..work permit is ok..TRV is not needed...

Work Permit and Visa are two different things. Just google Temporary Resident Visa for Canada and click images on google. You will see how it looks like. Work Permit is paper form and Visa is passport size paper they stick it in your passport page. Hope this helps!

The actual Temporary Resident Visa or status is placed at the POE by the VO after (probably) asking some quesitons about the visit, etc. The one stamped in the passport at the POE is the actual TRV that says How long can one stay in Canada from the day we land.

This is my understanding. So, AFAIK, there is nothing required as of now other than the Visa in the passport and an air ticket to make the travel.

Anyone disagree?

Visa or TRV only allows you to board a plane to Canada..once you reach Canada you will need your OWP to enter after going through the immigration officer...

you are missing any of the two, things won't work out for you

Do you have visa sticker on ur passport? its TRV....and if you have OWP...then you have both...

I agree with you and YES -> I have a Open Work Permit Visa stamped in my passport that is valid till June 2015. I also have a letter from CHC, New Delhi clearly saying "You are now allowed to travel".

Then you are good to go...you will get your work permit at the port of entry...
