It is not a Canada only issue but applies to many countries even possible for non US citizens travelling into the US. Not always asked for granted but is designed as part of the initiative to reduce child trafficking or abduction across borders.Interesting. Here in USA never heard anyone suggesting to carry permission letter from spouse if traveling alone with kid(s). Is this some Canada specific issue?

This is not true at all. This is common everywhere in the world. If you're traveling with kids you may be asked if the other parent has given permission for flying.Usually it's only an issue in the USA if the parents are divorced/separated.

Both me and my wife have been asked for a written statement flying out of the US. Your marital status has no bearing on the situation.Did you miss the part where I quoted the post specifically discussing the USA?
