I'm happy to say my potential common law partner was granted an extension so we can achieve our 1 year continued living together and apply for permanent residency as a common law couple.
What sort of evidence are we required to present to verify this?
I am in the unique position of owning my home outright so no lease or rent to sign... I have added his name to my utility bills and he will be insured under the same car/address for driving.
What other ducks do we need in a row?
Thank you!

You need to provide lots of evidence to show that you have been living together and in a marriage-like relationship for a full year. Utility bills and car insurance are a good way to start, but you'll need 12 months' worth so definitely keep tracking asap. I'm not sure about owning property - you might be able to add your partner to a mortgage if you have one? No experience there.

Other options:
Having a joint bank account for a year
Having phone bills with both names/addresses (perhaps this is included in utilities)
Joint credit cards or single credit cards with the same address
Filing taxes as common law

etc. etc.

Always good to have as much evidence as possible. Since you're applying common law, keep any proof of mail to your shared address as that can be used as additional evidence. Basically, just consider anything that will show that you two have lived together for a full year.

FYI - all of your evidence needs to go back a full year to prove common law. So hopefully you added your partner's name to the utility bills when you first starting living together. Same for any joint bank accounts, insurance, shared credits cards, etc. You'll want this evidence to go back at least one full year at the time you apply.

Have you looked the checklist? It is quite specific about what proof are required.
