Hi all,

I held a GRA position in the US for 3 years and I want to apply for Canadian PR via NOC 4012 for Teaching and Research Assistants. My department HR says my reference letter will specify that I worked 20h/week during the semesters and up to 40h/week during the summer. Also, the letter can not mention the phrase "full-time" as I am an international student and it will be a violation of my visa.

How should I proceed with my EE application? Can I show my work experience full time and write 40 hours when asked about the number of working hours? Please advise!

Your hours would be 20hrs/week x number of weeks during semesters + 30hrs/week x number of weeks during summer. 30 instead of 40 because anything above 30 hours is not counted by IRCC. One year of full-time in IRCC's book is 1560 hrs. Divide the total number of hours you have, based on the abovementioned calculation, by 1560 gives you the number of full-time years you have.
