Hi Seniors & experts,

God willingly, i will be in Maple Land soon. I have a background of Accounts & will be seeking of course an accounting jobs. However, I know the tax system & few bits & pieces are different to where I am. I had sneaked into few Unis/Colleges that offer a program for accounting a short course through which i will get to learn about the different accounting measures of Canada as well as will polish my experience. Are there any options for Permanent Residents available from Gvt so we can polish ourselves before we get into the job market ?

Please also provide me an advise how to strike into the accounting jobs? I dont mind getting into from the scratchy book keeping jobs. It will be a different world for me, little advise could help me heaps.

Please don't use "Maple Land" to address Canada, its like addressing India as "Curry Land" or China as "Chowmein Land". Its very offensive to some and culturally inappropriate.

As for your questions I dont understand what you mean by "options for Permanant Residents", please elaborate what you mean by options. If you are thinking government is going to do something free for you, you might as well forget about it. Government will not help you in any way.
As far as getting jobs is concerned your best bet would be to contact companies directly and sell yourself. If they like you they will consider you. Alternatively you could apply through recruitment agencies

Accounting is highly regulated and super competitive.

Best of luck to you.... you are really going to need it.

Newtone, i sincerely apologize if i had offended you. I have seen locals here on this very forum referring Canada as a maple land & so i did! Well I guess i did not used any terms in regards to government doing stuff for FREE. I meant if there are discounts for locals, as here in Australia we are discounted on every sort of education. New immigrants chooses their profession related course to learn things in Australia so they are better off at work & interviews. Are you aware of such rebate/Discount that Gvt allow locals on their courses?

I advise you to go to another forum and ask this question. redflagdeals under careers section would be a good start. There are a lot of unemployed Canadians in the same situation as you. List your qualification and post your question in detail. You will get a much better answer there.

Thank you sir. I'll do as advised.

No problems apology accepted. As far as discounts on education are concerned as PR you pay much less than international students. There are also many opportunities for scholarships for locals you could look into that too
