I'm a masters student at University of British Columbia and my study permit would expire on 31st Aug, 2018. My classes started from Sept 1st 2017 and currently I'm in 2nd term of my course. It's been 2 years and 4 months of my marriage. My husband came to Canada on open work permit in February, 2017.

We had not planned about family or having a baby now because we have no status here in Canada and we are not yet settled and still finding an appropriate job. But we are intending to stay / settle in Canada. Unfortunately I got to understand that I'm pregnant so we are worried whether our PR application after my graduation will be affected as by that time I will be delivering a child here in Canada ????

Whose do we consult to take an appropriate step towards PR as currently my husband is dependent on me and my studies also need to be completed within my allowed permit. Because having a child might extend my study duration so I need a proper guidance how do we plan PR or work permit for my husband, my studies, my work, family everything...

Kindly guide what step do we follow as our ultimate aim is to stay here in British Columbia

Regards,

Anjali

You also need to think about how you are going to afford all the pregnancy related medical expenses.

Indeed. As a non-resident you might have to pay all these fees out of pocket as this will not be covered by the provincial insurance

How exactly will you be applying for PR immediately after graduating a 1 year course?

When you eventually qualify for PR, having a new child will not affect the application. Both your child and spouse will simply be included in the app as dependents.

You can do this through BC PNP provided you have a job offer.

MSP and my medical fees will be covered under my tuition fees. Hopefully we will be able to manage.

I already have 3 years experience working in an industry and I believe for Masters student irrespective of whether we have a job offer or not we can apply for PNP with the points received through experience. Definitely getting a job offer is anytime a better option before applying for PR.
