We (myself,my hubby and my daughter) have got pr visa under skilled worker category . we are so confused what to do coz i m 7 months pregnent . If we move now to canada we'll have to do all the expences of my delivery. if i deliver my baby in india how much time it will take to update our visa and what will be the formalities of it. The main problem is that we have got our visas in the category is now closed so will it be a problem.

If you are pr when you get here, You can get the health care card and it will cover the delivery fees. As far as I know anyways.

it takes 3 month to get Health card. if anything happen meanwhile you have to bare all the expenses. the the baby can cost up to 10 thousand dollar.

If you land in Calgary, you will get health coverage from day one not after 3 months.
Bless you and your future baby!!!

Yes true , if you choose to land in Calgary then you will be fine. In my opinion if you land and give birth here it will be better, except you have other reasons holding your family back.

I read info here about some one who came and gave birth here and it was ok.

Glad for the new one to come.

2 Options:

1. You fly now but choose a province where you can get first day health care. That's all of them except Ontario and BC. You then get your health card, have your baby and there are no problems.

2. You stay, return your PR visas to the visa office and ask to add your baby. This will probably cause you a delay of a few months.

The choice is yours, however, if you choose 2., contact the visa office asap to let them know of the situation.

Please go ahead and land in Calgary or anywhere in Alberta, you should have the medical coverage from day one plus you would not need to wait.

That is possible but by no means guaranteed. I know of one case of BC doing this to a person who had stayed in the province for 3 months, gained health care, gave birth and left BC after a total of 5.5 months. After realizing that she had left, BC health decided that because she did not stay at least 6 months a year in BC in her first year, she was never eligible for health care to begin with and cancelled her coverage retroactively and sent her the bill.

I have never heard of any other province doing anything like that but it is possible so wherever you get health care, stay at least 6 months in that province and you will be fine.
