SO after a loooong wait I finally got my confirmation of PR. I am in Montreal and plan to head to Burlington,VT this weekend and and renter canada the same day with my immigrant visa and CoPR.

I have been this rout several time and I know if you're in the US for less than 24 hours there is no duty free exemption. However, this time I will be returning from the US to be a landed immigrant..so can I claim exemption on stuff I buy in the US even though I am there less than 24 hours?

Thanks for your replies

No - you can't.

The same duty free exeption applies regardless.
